Riley Major Tjanagala was born at Yamunturrngu near Mt. Leibig and he lived at Haasts Bluff and Papunya before settling at Kintore.  He began painting in the 1980s under the guidance of his late brother, George Maxwell Tjangala and his work quickly gained recognition.  The works of Riley Major Tjangala are represented in several important State Galleries and numerous private collections.
