Maxie Tjampitjinpa began painting in 1980 with the encouragement of Mick Wallangkarri Tjakamarra.  In 1984 he won the coveted Northern Territory Art Award.  Maxie participated in numerous exhibitions since 1984.  The works of Maxie Tjampitjinpa are held in many prestigious Institutional collections both in Australia and overseas.
