Anatjari Tjampitjinpa (dec.)
Born: c.1927, Kiwirrukurra Region, Western Australia (dec. 1999) Domicile: Kiwirrukurra Language Group: Pintupi Anatjari also cited as Anatjari No.1, was one of the original painters that founded the Papunya Tula Western Desert Art movement in the 1970s. His works are characterised through iconology associated with the Tingari Cycle Dreaming. Paintings by the late Anatjari Tjampitjinpa are held in numerous Australian State Galleries and important overseas collections. |
