Long Jack Phillipus Tjakamarra

Long Jack Phillipus Tjakamarra worked as a stockman before moving to Papunya in 1959 where he bacame a councillor and school yardman. Long Jack Phillipus along with Billy Stockman and Kaapa Mbitjana Tjampitjinpa, with encouragement from Geoff Bardon, created the iconic mural at the Papunya School which resulted in the birth of the Western Desert Art movement. Long Jack Phillipus Tjakamrra has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions since 1974. He was ordained a Lutheran Pastor in 1984.
