Gordon Robertson Jangala
Born: 1972, Kununurra, East Kimberley’s, Western Australia Domicile: Nyirippi, North West of Alice Springs Language: Warlpiri Gordon Robertson Jangala was born at Kununurra where his father, George Robertson Jampitjinpa was employed as a stockman. Later the family moved back to their home-lands at Nyrippi in the Simpson Desert of Central Australia.
Gordon's artistic talents emerged during childhood. He attended primary school at Yuendumu, high school in Alice Springs and later Yirara College, where he graduated with a certificate in arts. In addition to being a gifted artist with almost any medium, Gordon is also a accomplished musician and composer and has produced several albums with his group, Black Storm. Gordon Robertson Jangala is the scion of an artistic dynasty: Grandson of Paddy Lewis japanjanka, eldest son Margaret Napangardi Lewis and nephew of Dorothy Napangardi Robertson. |
